Written Assignment and micro teach.
Award in Education and Training is an initial training qualification, studied at QCF Level 3 or 4 for a new and experienced teacher. The AET is currently the initial teaching qualifications specifically for this sector of education. Other teaching qualifications include the QCF Level 3/4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) and the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) qualifications. After successful completion of the AET and upon achieving the qualification, an associate teacher would then have to take the more advanced CET for the Certificate and after that the DET for the Diploma.
A ‘micro-teach’ session is held followed by submission of assignments and portfolio of evidence. But in the Level 4 CET, however, you need to be in a teaching or training role in order to be assessed ‘on-the-job’, as well as through the submission of assignments and a portfolio of evidence. In order to be able to continue to teach in the further education sector in the UK, It is required that all teachers obtain the AET award or the equivalent.
